 Friends of Webcasters produced a documentary shot in 2008 of the Haitian areas outside of Port-au-Prince, the people that live there, the conditions in which they live, and the needs they have. The piece was funded and produced entirely by volunteers hoping to raise money for a small relief organization, Functional Literacy Ministry of Haiti, in an effort to bring medical care to the region.
According to UPI, the death toll from Haiti's 7.0 magnitude earthquake Tuesday is at least 100,000 and could be several times that, according to Haitian officials in Port-au-Prince, a city of 2 million which is virtually flattened.
